There is a lot of talk about what an interviewer should ask during an interview. But, do you know what NOT to ask? Take this short quiz and find out. Can you ask…

1. How old are you?

2. What schools have you attended and when?

3. Do your children go to daycare?

4. Do you wish to be addressed as Miss, Mrs., or Ms?

5. Do you own a car?

Answers: You may be surprised, but in most cases, each of the questions is illegal. As an interviewer, be careful what you ask because you and your company could be taken to court! If your interview is focused on the skills required by the job and your questions are behavior-based, you should have no problems finding the ideal candidate. When preparing for an interview, have your questions ready and stay away from illegal information.

(Please note: This is not legal advice, nor is this quiz all encompassing. Contact your company’s legal department for further clarification.)
